Generous Nation 2007/2008 Radio Roadblock Perhaps no other medium in history is better suited to convey the meaning and value of the Ad Council’s new Generous Nation campaign than Radio. Drawing from an unparalleled and uniquely intimate relationship with communities and listeners, Radio can impact this national campaign at the local level, empowering our audiences, igniting community spirit, and firmly establishing Radio's power to engage. The Ad Council designed the Generous Nation campaign to inspire Americans to translate their everyday compassion and good intentions into action by giving more often. The campaign's message is simple: Don’t almost give – give. Last year, the RAB’s Generous Nation Radio Roadblock, which ran from December 2006 though January 2007, resulted in nearly $7 million in donated Radio time. Representing more than a quarter of total donated media, the Radio Roadblock contributed to 600,000 visits to the campaign website, including 24,000 exists to the sites of featured charitable organizations. From the links below, you can participate in the 2007/2008 campaign by downloading the PSAs from the Ad Council or RAB and obtaining promotional ads for your station website. At the campaign website, www.DontAlmostGive.org, your listeners can find ways to make a donation, search for volunteering opportunities in their community, or get involved in a charity that aligns with their interests. The website also enables visitors to search by zip code to find volunteer opportunities in their communities and/or donate to more than 1 million charities through partnerships with websites that aggregate ways to help others: Network for Good, VolunteerMatch, and USA Freedom Corps. Ultimately, it is the Ad Council's hope that the Generous Nation campaign will bolster the efforts of the nonprofit community by galvanizing the many Americans who are inspired to give, to give more frequently -- whether formally or informally -- and to help those who are most in need.
