The 2006 Radio-Mercury Awards Extends Entry Deadline To March 24

New York, New York – March 14, 2006 -- The deadline to submit entries for the 2006 Radio-Mercury Awards competition has been extended to Friday, March 24th. The extension was prompted by demand from advertising agencies, production firms, and Radio stations, which now have an additional week to submit entries to the richest competition in Radio creative.
Entries may be submitted online at www.RadioMercuryAwards.com, as MP3 files. Entry forms are available on the site for download.
The annual Radio-Mercury Awards recognizes excellence in Radio creative with $165,000 in cash prizes, including the coveted $100,000 Grand Prize. The competition awards twelve $5,000 cash prizes, nine from the General Category, one each from the Spanish-Language and Station-Produced Categories, and one from the 30-Second Spot Category. All twelve $5,000 prizewinners are eligible to compete for the $100,000 Radio-Mercury Award Grand Prize.
In addition, the Public Service Announcement Category Award provides a $2,500 donation in the winner’s name to the charity of their choice. The Radio-Mercury Student Award grants $2,500 to the winning school, college, or university. Every winner receives the spectacular Radio-Mercury Awards trophy.
The 2006 Radio-Mercury Awards will be presented at a gala, invitation-only luncheon on Thursday, June 8th at the landmark Cipriani on 42nd Street in New York City.

The Radio-Mercury Awards were established in 1992 to encourage and reward the development of effective and creative Radio commercials. Approximately 14,000 commercials have competed for over $2.4 million in prizes. The Radio Creative Fund (RCF), a non-profit corporation funded by the Radio industry, governs the Radio-Mercury Awards.
