The 2006 Radio-Mercury Awards Finalists Announced
DeVito/Verdi Leads The Pack With Highest Number of Finalist Spots
New York, New York – May 22, 2006 - Finalists in the 15th annual Radio-Mercury Awards competition were announced today by the Radio Creative Fund (RCF). Matching last year’s largest number of entries ever, the 2006 Radio-Mercury Awards competition continues to draw entrees from a wide variety of agencies across the country.
Previous Radio-Mercury grand champion DeVito/Verdi leads the competition with 7 finalist spots, followed closely by multiple winners DDB Chicago and Miami based agency Crispin Porter+ Bogusky.
Giving the veteran shops a run for their money are newcomers, Barber Martin Advertising, Copacino + Fujikado, ikam, Leopold Ketel & Partners, MAKOS Advertising, and Meads Durket.
The 2006 Radio-Mercury Awards will recognize and reward the creators of Radio’s best commercials with over $160,000 in cash prizes during a gala, invitation-only luncheon and awards ceremony on Thursday, June 8 at the landmark Cipriani on 42nd Street in New York City. Gerry Graf of TBWA\Chiat\Day served as this year’s Chief Judge. The complete list of finalists follows at the end of this release.
In addition to the coveted $100,000 Grand Prize, the Radio-Mercury Awards competition includes twelve $5,000 cash prizes: 9 from the General Category, 1 each from the Spanish-Language and Station-Produced Categories, and 1 in the 30-Second Spot Category. The 12 prizewinners are eligible to win the $100,000 Radio-Mercury Award Grand Prize.
The Public Service Announcement Category Award provides a $2,500 donation in the winner’s name to the charity of their choice. The Radio-Mercury Student Award grants $2,500 to the winning school, college, or university. Every winner receives the spectacular Radio-Mercury Awards trophy.

The Radio-Mercury Awards were established in 1992 to encourage and reward the development of effective and creative Radio commercials. Approximately 14,000 commercials have competed for over $2.5 million in prizes. The Radio Creative Fund (RCF), a non-profit corporation funded by the Radio industry, governs the Radio-Mercury Awards.
