Successful Completion of the RAB/BMI Scholarship Program
Rising through the Ranks,
2009 Women in Radio Management & Leadership Training Seminar

New York, New York - September 1, 2009 -- The Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB), in conjunction  with BMI and the Mentoring and Inspiring Women (MIW) in Radio Group, is pleased to announce the successful completion of the second annual Rising through the Ranks, Women in Radio Management & Leadership Training Program for 2009. Thirty-two recent and aspiring managers attended the session conducted at the RAB Academy in Dallas, August 25 - 26, 2009.

Scholarship recipients were selected and awarded by the three organizations.  The two day course emphasized the specific needs of women in management roles, including enhancing their overall management knowledge and skills.

Erica Farber, Heidi Raphael, and Lynn Anderson spoke at Rising Through The Ranks.  All three are highly respected and accomplished Radio industry professionals and MIW members.  Farber is former Publisher and CEO of Radio and Records, and is the first recipient of the MIW Trailblazer Award; Raphael, Vice President of Corporate Communication at Greater Media, Inc., also Spokesperson for the MIW in Radio Group, and Anderson, is Senior Vice President of Training at the RAB.

"I have no doubt that all of these women walked away smarter and more motivated then when they arrived.  Most of the time we hear about how badly the state of radio is today, after two days I can honestly say I have never felt better about the state of radio," said Farber.

Curriculum includes practical and real world applications these managers can utilize in the workplace. "I had an exceptional experience and learned so much on so many different levels," said attendee PJ Reilly, Regional Sales Manager for Beasley Broadcast Group, Inc. in Philadelphia/Wilmington. "I'm eagerly awaiting my arrival back to my station to put to use what I have learned.  The program was invigorating, educational and most of all, inspiring."

Since the BMI/RAB partnership began seven years ago, 200 BMI-funded Scholarships for both FastStart Minority Program and the Rising Through The Ranks Workshop have been awarded.  The RAB Radio Training Academy in Dallas, Texas, and the Academy Off-Campus Extension Program offer a variety of sales and management courses at beginner and advanced levels.
