Successful Completion of the RAB/BMI Scholarship Program
Rising through the Ranks,
2010 Women in Radio Management & Leadership Training Seminar

2010 Rising Through the Ranks ClassNew York, New York – September 8, 2010 -- The Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB), in conjunction with BMI and the Mentoring and Inspiring Women (MIW) in Radio Group, is pleased to announce the successful completion of the third annual Rising through the Ranks, Women in Radio Management & Leadership Training Program for 2010. Twenty five scholarships were handed out for the 2010 Women in Radio Management & Leadership Training Program at the BMI offices in Nashville, August 31-September 1.

Scholarship recipients were selected and awarded by the three organizations.  The two day course emphasized the specific needs of women in management roles, including enhancing their overall management knowledge and skills.

Curriculum included practical and real world applications that managers can now utilize in the workplace. “I had a wonderful experience and learned so much on so many different levels,” said attendee”, said Taja Graham, Local Sales Manager, Emmis Communications, Indianapolis.  “I'm incredibly excited to get back to my market and station to put to use all of the lessons learned.  The program was invigorating, educational and most of all, inspiring.”

“The idea of this program is to give women new ideas, tools, resources and a strong network of like-minded strong and talented professionals to help them excel in their current position, and prepare them for their next challenges,” noted Jeff Haley, President and CEO of the Radio Advertising Bureau. “We’re thrilled with this year’s turn out, and have great expectations for these scholarship recipients in the future.”

"We are very grateful to BMI and the RAB for their generous support over the past three years with the RTTR Program," said Heidi Raphael, MIW Radio Group Spokesperson and Greater Media Vice President of Corporate Communication. "This program is yet another great example of the MIWs' commitment to promoting the advancement to women in senior positions in the radio industry.  We look forward to unveiling details for the 2011 Mildred Carter Mentoring Program in the coming weeks."

Since the BMI/RAB partnership began eight years ago, over 200 BMI-funded Scholarships for both FastStart Minority Program and the Rising Through The Ranks Workshop have been awarded.  The RAB Radio Training Academy in Dallas, Texas, and the Academy Off-Campus Extension Program offer a variety of sales and management courses at beginner and advanced levels.
