The 6th Annual “Rising Through the Ranks” Course Dedicated to the Support and Advancement of Women in Radio Sales Management is Open for Submissions

New York, NY – April 29, 2013 – Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB), Broadcast Music, Inc.® (BMI®), and Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio Group (MIW) will present the sixth annual “Rising Through the Ranks” Seminar, August 21-22, at the BMI Nashville office in Tennessee. As in years past, BMI will offer 25 scholarships for this year's program.  These scholarships cover the cost of the training course and are designed to foster and educate emerging female radio sellers and managers within the industry.

This year’s course will primarily focus on imperative sales and management techniques, including time management skills, budget reviews, integrated solutions selling, and personal brand building.  Scholarship winners will also have the opportunity to hear from leading radio industry executives from all different station groups and industry backgrounds. Confirmed speakers will continue to be announced over the next few months.

“Rising Through the Ranks has quickly become a hallmark event for the Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio Group,” noted Heidi Raphael, vice president, corporate communications, Greater Media, and spokesperson for the MIW Radio Group. “With the gracious help from BMI, and the RAB, this two day workshop allows us to continue to cultivate, and help foster female sales managers to senior positions in the Radio industry.”

"BMI is thrilled to host and underwrite this important initiative," said Mike Steinberg, senior vice president, licensing, BMI. "We're proud to support the advancement and education of female executives throughout the radio industry."

“By supporting the advancement of women in radio, we ensure that female leaders will continue to emerge within our industry,” said Erica Farber, president and CEO, Radio Advertising Bureau. “This year’s Rising Through the Ranks program will not only give scholarship winners the opportunity to learn from industry executives, but meet and interact with their fellow peers and develop a network of their own.

Scholarship applications and registration are available at www.rab.com and will be accepted now through July 13, 2013.  The training course is limited; applicants are encouraged to submit early to secure a spot.
