Radio Mercury Awards Announces Jim Elliott, Chief Creative Officer, Y&R NY as the 2015 Chief Judge for the Radio Mercury Awards

Call for Entry Officially Open for Submissions
New York, New York – December 17 – The Radio Mercury Awards is pleased to announce Jim Elliott, chief creative officer, Y&R NY as Chief Judge for the 24th annual awards competition. 2015 Call for Entry is now open; entries are being accepted for outstanding creative spots and campaigns from advertising agencies, radio stations, production companies, colleges, universities, and advertisers.

Jim Elliott joined Y&R NY as Chief Creative Officer in June of 2011 where he has overseen work for such internationally known brands as Land Rover, Campbell Soup Company, and Dell. Prior to Y&R, Jim served as Group Creative Director at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners SF, where he spent five years working on key clients including Häagen-Dazs, Hyundai, Denny’s, HP, Netflix and Yahoo! Along the way, he earned the distinction as one of the agency’s most awarded creatives. His work for Hyundai helped turn the struggling car manufacturer into one of the most successful car companies in America during one of the worst economic climates on record.

Jim’s awards include Cannes, D&AD, CLIO, AICP, Andy’s, The One Show, London International, New York Festivals, The Art Directors Club, Stephen E. Kelly, Effie Worldwide, National ADDY The Web Marketing Association, the Yahoo! Big Idea Chair and, most recently, a Public Service Radio Mercury Award in 2013 for MomsDemandAction.org. His integrated “Help the Honey Bees” campaign for Häagen-Dazs earned the brand the first-ever Green Pencil awarded by The One Club. Nineteen prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Five Agency Production Single, Two Radio Station Produced Single, Student Produced Single, Public Service Announcement, Spanish Language Single, Five Radio Campaigns, Spanish Language Campaign, Best Use of Radio in an Integrated Campaign with Radio, Best Innovative Use of Radio, and Best Radio Promotion of the Year, along with the $50,000 Best of Show. The deadline for this year’s call for entry is Monday, April 6, 2015. This year’s awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 in New York City. The Radio Mercury Awards, the only competition exclusively devoted to radio, was established in 1992 to encourage and reward the development of effective and creative radio commercials. The annual Radio Mercury Awards competition draws entries from advertising agencies, production houses, radio stations, and educational institutions across the country. Approximately 17,500 commercials have competed for over $3.1 million in prizes. The Radio Creative Fund (RCF), and non-profit corporation funded by the radio industry, governs the Radio Mercury Awards. The Radio Advertising Bureau produces the Radio Mercury Awards.
