What Stations Are Doing: Food Donations Grow For Saga's 'Combat Hunger'

How about some high-fives for Saga's Des Moines, Iowa Group. KSTZ's community program entitled "Combat Hunger" was able to bring in over 200,000 pounds of food from listeners for the Food Bank of Iowa. The community event is now in its 21st year. The 206,000 pounds of food is a 5% increase over last year.

The Food Bank of Iowa is a private, non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to alleviate hunger and reduce food waste. The Food Bank solicits warehouses and distributes grocery products through a network of more than 425 non-profit food-providing organizations in 55 Iowa counties.
