||What Stations Are Doing: 1 Station + 2 Days = $1 Million for Children’s Hospital
Listeners opened up their wallets to the tune of $1 million during Jackie and Bender's One Big Kiss for Seattle Children’s Hospital Radiothon.
In its 12-year history, the annual radiothon staged by CHR "106.1 KISS-FM" KBKS has raised over $11.5 million to fund projects and programs that advance the hospital's mission to prevent, treat and eliminate pediatric disease.
106.1 KISS-FM hosts Jackie and Bender broadcast the stories of Children's patients, families, staff and volunteers to listeners across the region, who responded with generous donations and helped 106.1 KISS-FM reach the 2013 goal of $1 million.
Throughout the two-day Radiothon, fans were encouraged to donate online, via text and in an online auction as well as by joining the KISS for Kids Club, which allows listeners to sign up to make a monthly donation. Online donations went through their website at www.KISSFMSEATTLE.com. Listeners could also make a $10 donation by texting the word CARE to 50555.
"It's truly incredible that Jackie and Bender's compassion for Seattle Children's inspires so many to give generously and has for 12 years," said Michele Smith a member of the Seattle Children's Hospital Board of Trustees. "They have given a voice to so many patients and their families to share their amazing stories with our community, uniting everyone in supporting Seattle Children's.
"Thank you so much, Jackie and Bender and all of your generous listeners for your support!"
