||What Stations Are Doing: 110,000 Fans at a Station-Sponsored Concert?
They "biked, walked and boated" their way to Saginaw's Ojibway Island to attend the "KCQ Country Music Fest," says the MLive site.
This is the 22nd year that MacDonald's WKCQ, Saginaw (98.1) has been fronting this event, and police were expecting attendance of about 90,000. They far exceeded that, with the station's Barb Sheltraw saying "everyone is well-behaved and amazing...it went smoother than we thought."
For purposes of comparison, this year's Preakness Triple Crown race drew about 47,500 people, and the Indy 500 did about 200,000.
The total population of Saginaw, MI is only 51,230.
The "KCQ Country Music Fest" headliner was Gary Allan, and the rest of the bill included Easton Corbin and the Steel Wheels Band.
