Daily Sales Tip: Lunatic Luau

Dozens of money-making ideas were shared in a session RAB produced at the NAB Show this week. Carol Commander, Director of Sales at Saga Communications in Norfolk, VA, shared one they have done called Lunatic Luau. They partner with a local promoter on a rock concert. The twist is they share revenue on ticket sales.

The station gets $1 per ticket sold on the first 11,000 tickets. The event draws 20,000. The station also sells multiple sponsorship platforms including presenting sponsor, side stage sponsor, autograph tent sponsor, vendor village sponsor, vendor booths, t-shirt sponsor, and host bar for battle of the bands. This year they generated over $58,000 in revenue for the station.
