Daily Sales Tip: 4 Signs Your Job is in Danger

Media sales job descriptions are changing and the workforce is being reshaped. Here are 4 signs you are in danger of losing your job:

1) You don’t embrace digital

Not knowing online advertising and marketing keeps you from presenting and selling Internet. It starts with knowing the vocabulary (deep link to glossary of terms: http://www.rab.com/secure/radiodigital/Glossary_of_Interactive_Advertising_Terms(iab).pdf)

2) You are not "Social"

You must have and use the major social sites. At least have an account on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, and Wordpress. Pay attention to the creative marketing being conducted on the sites.

3) You are not "Mobile"

You need to have and use a Smartphone. Download apps, look at how marketers are developing mobile-friendly websites, try QR codes, text a keyword to an advertiser. And get a tablet. Some are less than $300. At least use a tablet in a nearby electronics store to see how they work and how advertisers are marketing with them.

4) You sell only on-air commercials

Radio remains a powerful advertising medium, yet advertisers look for a holistic approach to solve their needs. Conduct thorough enough CNAs to learn all of their advertising objectives and provide solutions that incorporate all of your marketing opportunities that support those objectives.
