What do Radio Flyer and Coca-Cola have in common?

One is an iconic red wagon, the other is an iconic red can but they are both the big winners from this year’s Radio Mercury Awards.  Yes, in 2018, TWO campaigns were awarded Best of Show, walking away with a cool $25K each.

The two campaigns truly demonstrate the power and flexibility that the radio medium offers to brands and the limitless, unique ways possible to convey messages to specific target audiences.

The Radio Flyer “Tours” campaign captures the hearts and minds of listeners by allowing them inside the minds of a child’s imagination, while the Coca-Cola “Share A Coke 1,000 Name Celebration” presented songs to hundreds of thousands of people who share one of the 1,000 first names.

When asked about why there were two Best of Show winners this year, Sean Bryan, Chief Judge of the 2018 Radio Mercury Awards and Co-Chief Creative Officer, McCann NY, said, “We were really torn over this classic, incredibly creative storytelling for Radio Flyer and then this innovative and exciting use of the medium for Coke.  Splitting the Best of Show award was the best option with a nod to the heart of the medium, and a wink to the future.”  Click here to listen to these Best of Show campaigns and all of the other winners and finalists from the 2018 Radio Mercury Awards.
