Moral Acceptability Falls for Several Behaviors

Gallup found that Americans’ views on the moral acceptability of several behaviors have declined since last year, including birth control, having a baby outside of marriage, gambling, teenage sex and cloning animals. While many views remain more permissive than they were two decades ago, Gallup notes that the long-term trend toward broader acceptance has recently plateaued or pulled back.

These shifts point to a more complex values landscape, creating implications for healthcare, financial services, entertainment, education and cause-driven organizations that must be mindful of cultural differences, generational attitudes and community sensitivities when shaping messaging.
