RAB And BMI Announce Minority Scholarship Selection Committee Members

BMI-Sponsored Program Provides Tuition to RAB Radio Training Academy; Application Deadline Ten Days Away

New York, New York -- June 19, 2006 – The Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) and U.S. performing rights organization BMI today announced the selection committee for the “RAB/BMI FastStart to Radio Sales Success” Minority Scholarship program.  The committee will select 25 minority students to attend the Gary Fries Radio Advertising Bureau Radio Training Academy in Dallas, TX, or the Academy Off-Campus Extension Program within the next 12 months.  The application deadline is June 30, 2006.

Scholarships are awarded based on various criteria, including ethnicity of applicant, overall need, applicant’s enthusiasm toward a career in Radio sales, and recommendations from professional associates.  Interested students can submit an application and are encouraged to do so as quickly as possible.  Application forms and the schedule of classes, dates, and locations can be found at www.RAB.com.

 

Each scholarship is valued at $1,200. Recipients may choose either a one-week program at RAB’s Dallas campus, or a two-and-a-half-day extension program conducted in cities around the U.S.  Over 100 BMI-funded scholarships have been awarded since the program’s inception five years ago.

 

The Gary Fries RAB Radio Training Academy in Dallas, Texas, and the Academy Off-Campus Extension Program offer a variety of sales and management courses at beginner and advanced levels. For information on any of RAB's Training Academy programs, call 972-753-6756.

 

Now marking its 65th year in business, BMI is an American performing rights organization that represents more than 300,000 songwriters, composers, and publishers in all genres of music. With a repertoire of more than 6.5 million musical works from around the world, the non-profit-making corporation collects license fees from businesses that use music, which it then distributes as royalties to the musical creators and copyright owners it represents.
