In 2022, RAB Professional Development continued to inspire, engage, educate, equip and empower members for the ever-changing media landscape with a strong return to in-person training and a continuation of virtual training we kicked off in 2020 enabling sales professionals to be more qualified and confident in their strategic selling approach.
The feedback has been extremely positive for both in-person and virtual training courses.
"RAB's Leadership Master Class was not only inspiring and engaging, it equipped me with tools that helped advance my career in radio. I started LMC as a local sales manager and now I’m the market’s general manager. Having peers in the class of all leadership levels, as well as RAB leadership pros Jeff and Kim, gave me the opportunity to learn from different styles and hear different perspectives that helped me build a game plan based on the successes of other markets. The follow-up sessions after the class continue to contribute to my learning and comradery among industry professionals. If you've been in a leadership role or are just stepping into one, RAB’s Leadership MasterClass is the best source for next-level training!"
Dan Charon - LMC Graduate
“Our strategic approach to serving the sales training needs of our members going forward, was to offer a focused curriculum, utilizing a common language, on a user-friendly digital platform, that constantly addressed the needs of sellers at all levels of experience. We are confident that the RAB’s sales training and certification programs perfectly meet the needs of our member stations."
Chris Winkle, CEO, Kentucky Broadcasters Association
After a hiatus in 2020 and a virtual multi-week event in 2021, RAB in partnership with MIW and BMI held the 15th annual Rising Through the Ranks program LIVE in Nashville in 2022. New this year we had one “get-to-know-you” virtual session leading up to the live meetings which proved to be successful and a good ice breaker. Twenty-five scholarship recipients participated in this year’s event.
The curriculum focused on the specific needs of women in radio management or those aspiring to move into management positions and worked to enhance their overall knowledge and skills, featuring 13 different speakers customized for practical and real-world applications that graduates could immediately use within their own companies. Additionally, the intimate setting allowed for personal success stories and leadership journeys from the featured radio executives.
Virtual training included four full-day Radio Sales Essentials courses with a total of 165 attendees and four Leadership MasterClasses where thirty-four graduates spent six consecutive weeks at three-hour increments in training classes that leverage both the intimate setting and class feedback format including executive coaching.

"Leadership Master Class (LMC) was hands down the BEST training course I’ve taken part in over a 13-year radio career! Having already taken the CRSM online course I walked in to the LMC course thinking it was going to be a “review” of the content, but, the group dynamic and high caliber instructors made the content come alive, real and practical!"
