iHeartRadio thriving – thanks to radio resurgence
iHeartRadio is doing just fine, with over 245 million monthly listeners — mostly on the radio, where listening is up 10 percent from 2014. According to a recent study by Nielsen, radio is not only not hurting, it's truly thriving. Radio, according to Nielsen, now reaches 93 percent of all adults age 18 and up every week, compared to 87 percent for TV and 70 percent for smartphones. “In 1971, about 90 percent of the population listened to the radio regularly,” says analyst Michael Kassan on the Media Village blog. “Today, that number is about 90 percent. This is an indicator that we still love to listen — while other media habits have ebbed and flowed, radio has remained a regular part of our daily media diet.”
