Are You in Love?

Okay, so maybe it's trite and cheesy for me to ask such a question on Valentine's Day. At the same time, if you're not in love with what you do, life can be downright difficult.

We live in a world filled with chaos, complexity and uncertainty. As media sales professionals and experts in marketing, we can be the calm in the midst of the storm. We can be a calming influence with information and help for businesses in our communities — because that's what they really need.

Earlier this month, we hosted another Radio Sales Essentials class. It's always inspiring to have a group of media sales professionals together to learn, grow and determine how we can best help our communities.

We shared with them three nonverbals that are needed to project whenever you are meeting with clients:

Joy — Not the same as happiness, but a true sense of joy for doing what you do.

Confidence — The kind of confidence that comes from knowing what you're doing and being good at it.

Passion — People can sense whether you are going through the motions or whether you truly love your job and what you do.

While today's holiday may have a more significant meaning regarding your love interests, there's never a bad time to remind ourselves why we love what we do. Clients continue to need hope, they need solutions and they need help. You can be the beacon of joy, confidence and passion that will help them to not just survive but thrive.
