CEO confidence ticks down slightly; hiring difficulties persist

The nation's CEOs are preparing for a recession. The good news is that they still expect it will be a short one. The Conference Board Measure of CEO Confidence, in collaboration with The Business Council, declined slightly to 42 in the second quarter of 2023, down from 43 in the first quarter of the year.
