Good day or bad day...It depends
Bill Mann is a special person you've heard me mention before. He is my mentor, my friend and my radio dad. Early in my career, he told me that 85% of the challenges I would face on the streets would happen between my ears. "If you control your self-talk, you'll control your destiny." Bill would remind me. Throughout my career, I've learned that it's not just about controlling the picture you see in your mind, but often you need a different perspective, or as I like to call it: a reframe. As a speaker, I've found that simply getting people to look at things differently is invaluable for their growth.
As we begin this Monday, let's do a little reframe. Read the following statement out loud:
Today is the absolute worst day ever
And don't try to convince me that
There's something good in every day
Because, when you take a closer look,
This world is a pretty evil place.
Even if
Some goodness does shine through once in a while
Satisfaction and happiness don't last.
And it's not true that
It's all in the mind and heart
Because
True happiness can be obtained
Only if one's surroundings are good
It's not true that good exists
I'm sure you can agree that
The reality
Creates
My attitude
It's all beyond my control
And you'll never in a million years hear me say that
Today is a good day
Now the reframe. Read from bottom to top and see if you have a better day.
Happy Monday!
