U.S. Depression Rate Remains Elevated
Gallup reports that 19.1% of U.S. adults currently have or are being treated for depression in early 2026, remaining near historic highs and representing an estimated 51 million Americans, with younger adults continuing to experience some of the sharpest increases.
These sustained mental health challenges point to growing pressure on wellbeing, productivity and daily decision-making, creating implications for healthcare, wellness, insurance and workplace support sectors that are increasingly tied to stress management, access to care and quality-of-life concerns.
