Free Time Does Not Predict Americans' Community Involvement
Gallup found that having more free time does not necessarily lead to greater community involvement; instead, barriers such as not knowing how to get involved or lacking an invitation to participate play a larger role in whether people volunteer or engage locally.
These findings point to the importance of awareness and connection rather than availability alone, creating relevance for nonprofits, local organizations, healthcare systems and community-focused businesses that rely on outreach, visibility and trusted relationships to encourage participation.
