Millennials Are Set To Inherit Trillions—but for Most, It Will Come Too Late

While an estimated $124 trillion is expected to be transferred between generations through 2048, Realtor.com reports that many millennials may not receive inheritances until their 50s or 60s. As people live longer and continue spending on healthcare, housing and retirement, the timing of inheritances may limit their ability to help younger generations with major life milestones such as buying a first home or building wealth earlier in adulthood.

This delayed transfer of wealth highlights growing financial pressures on middle-aged consumers who may be balancing retirement savings, housing costs and family responsibilities without the financial boost they once expected, creating relevance for financial services, retirement planning, insurance and housing-related sectors focused on long-term financial security.
