Sales Tip - Affordable Care Act Creates New Opportunities

Dave Burke, Founder of Burke Media Marketing and an expert on the marketing implications of the Affordable Care Act, presented tips for radio sales opportunities during a recent RAB webinar.

He shared statistics from several sources showing 45 million Americans are uninsured, the government has as a first year goal of enrolling 7 million of them, and 42% of Americans are unaware the ACA is a law. To encourage uninsured Americans to enroll, the Federal Government has already begun a $41 million ad campaign.

His suggestions for radio salespeople to cash in on new advertising clients are to prospect:

-- Your state Insurance Marketplace
-- Enroll America Navigators: trade groups, unions, associations and other non-profits who plan to educate and inform consumers
-- Insurance companies
-- Insurance co-op start-ups
-- Urgent care/walk-in clinics
-- Community health centers

Burke also says the best way to attack the category is to understand it.
