Americans Still Opt for Print Books Over Digital or Audio Versions; Few are in Book Clubs
Print books remain the dominant format, with about 64% of U.S. adults reading a physical book in the past year compared to 31% for e-books and 26% for audiobooks, while overall readership remains steady and participation in book clubs is rare at just 7%.
These habits point to a media landscape where traditional formats still command attention alongside growing digital options, creating momentum for publishers, retailers and content-driven brands to meet consumers across formats while recognizing that engagement remains highly personal rather than socially driven.
