The GLP-1 Closet Reset

A new Trimi survey of 737 GLP-1 users found that rapid weight loss is driving significant changes in clothing purchases. Four in five (80%) respondents said they are living with clothes that no longer fit, while the average participant has spent $328 rebuilding their wardrobe. Many are delaying purchases until their weight stabilizes, relying on resale platforms, tailoring or temporary clothing solutions before investing in a new wardrobe. The findings suggest that GLP-1 medications are influencing consumer spending well beyond healthcare, creating ripple effects across the apparel and resale markets.

The research highlights an emerging opportunity for apparel retailers, resale marketplaces, tailors, consignment shops and personal styling services. As GLP-1 adoption grows, businesses that offer flexible sizing, wardrobe refreshes, trade-in programs or personalized shopping experiences may be well positioned to meet the evolving needs of consumers whose clothing needs are changing along with their weight.
