About Half Of Americans Say They Spend Too Much Time On Their Smartphone
More than half (53%) of U.S. adults say they spend too much time on their smartphones, rising to 70% among adults under 30 and 64% among those ages 30 to 49. Nearly half of Americans (45%) have tried to cut back on smartphone use during the past year, but smartphones remain deeply ingrained in daily life: 26% use them almost constantly and another 60% several times a day. Consumers also see a downside, with 41% saying smartphones hurt the amount of sleep they get.
The findings may provide sellers with a compelling story about reaching consumers beyond the screen. Consider health and wellness businesses, fitness centers, sleep and mattress retailers, mental wellness services, family entertainment venues and outdoor recreation businesses that can position their products and experiences as ways to disconnect, recharge or spend time away from devices.
