Half Of U.S. Business Owners See Local Area As Good For Business

Less than half (48%) of U.S. business owners are satisfied with their city or local area as a place to operate, while 13% have a negative view. Access to customers and markets, business-to-business support networks, supportive services and business-friendly regulations are among the factors most closely associated with satisfaction. While only 5% of owners overall say they are likely to relocate for business reasons within the next year, that rises to 11% among those dissatisfied with their local business climate.

The findings reinforce how important connections to customers and the local business community can be to business owners. Sellers can use this insight when prospecting small and midsize businesses, banks and credit unions, commercial real estate firms, business service providers, chambers and economic development organizations, positioning advertising and marketing as tools to strengthen local visibility, customer connections and community ties.
