Engaged Home Shoppers Rose 20% This Spring, A Sign Of Pent-Up Demand

There is considerable pent-up demand in the housing market, even though affordability continues to keep many potential buyers on the sidelines. Zillow found engaged home shoppers, people who saved or shared a for-sale listing, increased 21% year over year this spring, reaching 4.8 shoppers for every listing nationally. Higher-priced homes attracted especially strong interest, with luxury listings drawing a median of eight engaged shoppers compared with 2.7 for lower-priced homes.

The gap between interest and actual purchases gives sellers opportunities to reach businesses that can help consumers make a move when conditions are right. Consider real estate agents, mortgage lenders, banks and credit unions, homebuilders, moving companies, home inspectors, insurance providers, furniture retailers and home improvement businesses, with messaging that addresses affordability, financing, available inventory and the services buyers need throughout the homebuying process.
