U.S. Crypto Ownership Falls From 2025 High
Cryptocurrency ownership among U.S. investors has declined to 11%, down from 17% in 2025, although it remains above the 6% recorded in 2021. Younger men remain the most likely investors to own crypto at 24%, despite falling from 33% last year. Risk remains a significant barrier: 63% of investors consider cryptocurrency a very risky investment, while 66% say they have no interest in buying it.
The decline in ownership and continued concern about risk can create opportunities for financial businesses to emphasize education, diversification and long-term planning. Sellers can approach financial advisors, investment firms, banks and credit unions, financial education services and wealth management firms with campaigns that help consumers understand investment choices and build confidence in managing their money.
