In Battleground States And Districts, People Agree On What To Do About Greenhouse Gas Emissions And Air Pollution

Despite partisan divisions among elected officials, surveys across 11 competitive states and 28 competitive congressional districts found substantial bipartisan support for efforts to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Overall, 78% to 94% across the battlegrounds say reducing air pollution should be a high federal priority, while 73% to 92% say the same about greenhouse gas emissions. Majorities also support incentives for carbon-free energy and energy-efficient homes and buildings, along with assistance and job training for workers affected by a transition away from fossil fuels.

The findings give political campaigns, candidates, issue advertisers and advocacy organizations current data on the views of adults in competitive states and congressional districts. They also may be useful to utilities, solar and renewable energy companies, HVAC contractors, home improvement businesses and energy-efficiency providers when developing messages around energy costs, efficiency and cleaner energy options.
