Rooms With A View: How Many TVs Do Americans Have At Home?
Televisions remain a fixture in American homes, with 86% of U.S. adults reporting at least one TV, according to YouGov. Two televisions are the most common household setup (25%), followed by one (22%) and three (19%). Half of Americans say their primary television is a smart TV, while larger screens are especially popular in households with multiple sets. Among those with four or more TVs, 56% have a primary screen larger than 50 inches, compared with just 19% of single-TV households.
The prevalence of multiple televisions gives electronics retailers, appliance stores, furniture retailers, home theater installers, internet service providers, streaming service providers and home improvement businesses plenty to talk about with consumers. Sellers can encourage these advertisers to promote TV upgrades, larger screens, smart-home connectivity, entertainment furniture and installation services that enhance the home viewing experience.
