U.S. Tractor Sales Fall 16.4%, Combine Sales Decline 10.9% From September 2025

U.S. tractor sales declined 16.4% in September 2026 compared with a year earlier, while combine sales fell 10.9%, according to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers. Dealers sold 15,024 tractors during the month, down from 17,979 in September 2025, with declines across every horsepower category. Four-wheel-drive tractors experienced the steepest drop at 20.2%, while year-to-date combine sales were down 9.4%, reflecting continued challenges in the agricultural equipment market.

As farmers become more cautious about major equipment purchases, farm equipment dealers, used machinery retailers, equipment repair businesses, agricultural lenders, banks, credit unions, precision agriculture providers and farm supply companies have a reason to emphasize affordability and productivity. Sellers can encourage these advertisers to highlight financing options, used equipment, maintenance services and technology upgrades that help farmers extend the life of existing machinery and manage costs.
