The Big Four And Beyond: Americans Find More Reasons To Celebrate With Chocolate And Candy

Americans are finding even more ways to celebrate occasions with chocolate and candy, according to a new report from the National Confectioners Association. The four major confectionery seasons – Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween, and the winter holidays – remain a critical part of the total category, accounting for 64% of annual chocolate and candy sales, but consumers are also increasingly buying and sharing treats for additional occasions including Thanksgiving, the Super Bowl, and St. Patrick’s Day. More than nine in 10 consumers purchase seasonal chocolate or candy at least once a year.
