How AI Is Changing The Senior Living Search: 2026 U.S. News Survey

Artificial intelligence is playing a growing role in how families research senior living communities, according to a U.S. News & World Report survey of 502 U.S. adults. Seventy percent used AI during their search, with approximately 75% of AI users comparing communities side by side and 82% willing to book a tour based on an AI recommendation. However, 51% of respondents who could evaluate AI accuracy encountered incorrect information, and 75% want independent verification before making a final decision. Personal connections remain essential, with 40% identifying interactions with residents and staff as the most influential factor and 43% citing a positive feeling during an in-person tour as the deciding factor in signing a residency agreement.

For independent living communities, assisted living facilities, memory care providers, continuing care retirement communities and senior living referral services, the findings highlight the importance of providing accurate information while building personal connections with prospective residents and their families. Sellers can encourage these advertisers to emphasize transparent pricing, knowledgeable staff, resident experiences and in-person tours that help families move from researching their options to making confident decisions.
