Address problems quickly

Far too many sales managers wait too long to address a problem with one of their reps. The most effective way to deal with a sales rep who may be lagging is to immediately address the issue.

Managers often wait "until next quarter." But the problem will only become worse. The quicker you address the slowdown, the less sensitive of a topic it will be, and the quicker it will be over.
